Akito Miyake (三 (み) 宅 (やけ) 明 (あき) 人 (と) , Miyake Akito) is one of the students of Class 1-D.

Background

In middle school, Akito became fond of archery and joined the club there and even participated in country-level competitions. However, he began to neglect other activities or duties, such as studies, in the process.

At that time he started to create some ruckus by causing quarrels with other people. That, and the fact that he neglected his studies, led to his evaluation as a D-Class student.

In high school, he once again became a member of the Archery Club.

Appearance

Akito has dark colored hair and usually wears the school uniform. He's roughly as tall as Kiyotaka Ayanokōji.

Personality

Akito has a straightforward and honest attitude when dealing with other people.

His honest and caring personality is shown again when Akito agrees to accept Kiyotaka easily without having any doubts about him even after his math scores.

Plot

Akito Miyake was first mentioned when Hirata Yōsuke tells Kiyotaka and the others that Miyake had run into some trouble and Hirata was going there to resolve it.

Later on, Akito Miyake was shown to have the fourth highest grip strength in Class D although Kōenji didn't participate in it.

Akito Miyake was formally introduced in volume 6. When he comes over to Hirata and Horikita to ask for help with his and Haruka Hasebe's studies but Haruka ends up declining to study together with either Hirata or Horikita. But not too soon after Yukimura Teruhiko offers to teach them on the condition that someone else can bring them together.

The one who was elected to manage them was Kiyotaka and after a while they started studying and The Ayanōkouji group was soon formed with the addition of Airi Sakura joining in the group as well. It was also mentioned that Akito Miyake is a member of the archery club.

Akito Miyake is shown to have confidence in his physical abilities and can at times be very bold, as seen in Mixed Training Camp when he offers to add Ryūen to join his group on the condition that he will get more of the winning prize if their group wins.

He was also seen on standby when Kanzaki Ryūji was interrogating Masayoshi Hashimoto. The reason being that he could resolve the fight if one breaks out between them, highlighting his confidence in his physical abilities.

Again, his honest and caring personality is shown again when Akito agrees to accept Kiyotaka easily without having any doubts about him even after his math scores.

Akito Miyake formed a group with Airi and Haruka for the uninhabited island exam. After hearing about the group formed by him from Kiyotaka, Hirata Yosuke mentions that Akito Miyake has good motor skills making his group well balanced.

Academic Abilities

Due to the neglect of Akito's studies, his academic performance has been subpar. Although he excels in Science and Math, he is quite bad at other subjects such as World History and Language, although it is mentioned that he possesses the ability to study hard enough so that he does not fail in these subjects.

His academic abilities are very similar to that of his friend Haruka Hasebe, to the point that Kiyotaka Ayanokōji stated their answers were so similar some might think only one person had taken both of their exams.

Physical Abilities

Akito is very skilled at archery that he receives praise from the Archery club itself. Apparently, he has good physical abilities, including a certain prowess at fighting. However, he himself believes them to be below average.

Decision Making

Akito is quick to make sensible decisions as shown when Kanzaki Ryuuji is interrogating Hashimoto Masayoshi in V9,he quickly makes up his mind that he will involve himself only if a fist fight breaks out.

Cooperativeness

Akito is neither uncooperative nor extremely cooperative since he at most times doesn't take the initiative himself but if it ever becomes necessary he is more than willing to ask for cooperation as shown in V6 when he asks for help regarding his and Haruka Hasabe's studies and in V3 he asks Hirata Yōsuke for help when he gets into some sort of trouble.

Name Etymology

• The name Akito consists of kanjis that mean "bright" (明) (aki) and "person" (人) (to).
• Akito's surname Miyake consists of kanjis that mean "three" (三) (mi) and "home" (宅) (yake).

Trivia

• As of now, Akito's defective trait is unknown and has yet to appear. (Although it could be speculated that it was his grades from lack of studying that put him in Class D.)
• Akito had been given counseling in the past due to the multiple instances of causing quarrels.
• Akito and Kakeru Ryūen attended neighboring middle schools.
• For the 2nd Year arc, When asked about his aspirations for the next year, he answered 'I may sound a bit arrogant, but there's no better thing for me than to protect my close friends.'
