• Hi,

On the template of Interlanguage wiki, it mentioned how I should ask for an admin's permission to use the template, so may I use it for The Promised Neverland Wiki? Thanks

I want to upgrade my wiki but I dont know much information about encoding jobs. Whether it be templates, CSS or JS, I already read the volumes of that series but I can't share it for I dont have any knowledge about codes. Hope you can help me about this. Thanks.

• Hello~!

Recommendation

Sure! Have you tried using source editor at Wiki before, because if not, you must familiarize yourself with such so that you'll easily learn the necessary coding stuff. It looks like this. Since you have a registered account, I believe you can access the editor (not the visual one) through the EDIT button found on topmost right-side of every article pages.

Introduction to Templates

With that in mind, you'll be able to see templates and CSS codes there, depending on which article you choose to pick. For example, the Character Template is always present in every articles for You-Zitsu Characters such as this and this, while the Episode Box Template is always present for episodal articles such as this and this.

These are easy to tweak since you can just input the data for each field parameter. These are pretty much direct input-output coding. You'll see what I mean if you try to play around with it in any character/episodal pages by previewing the changes.

Linking an Article and Adding Categories

To link an article, just simply use tag Term B by replacing Term A with the article name you want to link Term B at.

For example, you want to hyperlink Ayanokōji's code name to his character page. Argos-4 → Argos-4

In categorizing articles/category pages, just simply add necessary terms in this box (found when the source editor is opened). However, for character pages, adding categories is not anymore encouranged since those pages are automatically categorized.

How to Insert an Image

If you want to insert an image, there are two ways to present it. First is the thumbnail format. The usual code looks like this:

The second one is a gallery, which can be coded like this:

<gallery>
Sample Picture 1.jpg|Caption 1|link= Link 1
Sample Picture 2.jpg|Caption 2|link= Link 2
Sample Picture 3.jpg|Caption 3|link= Link 3
Sample Picture 4.jpg|Caption 4|link= Link 4
</gallery>

You can use article names for the links in galleries.

List of Other Necessary Templates

Nihongo - Used for japanese words.

Example: → Arisu Sakayanagi (坂柳 有栖, Sakayanagi Arisu)

Ruby Jap - Used for individual Kanji characters whose furigana is known.

Example: 篠原 さつき → (しの) (はら) さつき

Spoiler Tag - Used for comments that contain spoilers.

Sample Coding:

start
I am hidden. You must click expand to read me.
end

yields

SPOILER WARNING! Read at your own risk, see the policy for further information.
Click [Expand] to display the hidden text, otherwise scroll away!

I am hidden. You must click expand to read me.

Manual of Style and Layout Guide

There are other coding rules that we follow in this wiki which can be read here and here. In those two You-Zitsu Guides (written by the administrator, Sulina), you'll learn which headers you must use in every article.

Beyond Coding

You don't need to worry about general CSS and JS coding. It is handled by the administrator and some content moderators in this wiki. If you want to code something but can't execute it the way you want just do/encode whatever you can do and write whatever's in your mind in the edit summary. Rest assured, someone will act on it immediately.

If you have more questions, you can just reply in this thread, or you may ask Sulina whenever I'm unavailable. I believe he is one of the expert CSS/JS programmers in this wiki so you might as well learn a thing or two from him.
Thanks for having your interest in this wiki. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here~!

• For this case, would you mind sending me a screenshot? (Use external link with short URL like imgur.com)

• I followed what you said on Sulina's Message Wall:

Is your problem similar to this? Because if so, you might need to check your internet connection. Otherwise, you just need to remove the cache from your browser.

• Hi Bagwis. I've just made the same adjustments on Delete, as what previously did to Poor filename and Poor quality, so that now you could include your message/reason there. Thanks so much for working so hard on it.

• Thanks for updating the template. Been wondering how to properly integrate the tag and the reason.

        Loading editor
• Sure. Just replace <message> with your text. If the reason is one of built-in watermark, edited, subtitle issue (which I just added their description below), simple use that input (for eg: ) rather than your own words.

• What are you using to reduce the size further on the title card images? I'm interested if it is a lossless compression method!

• This is the tool that I used.

Although I know that PNG files must be "lossless-ly compressed", I picked the lossy compression method here due to the image having only 3 colors. I'm sure this method won't work if used for other episodal screenshots.

• I see, then. I would be wary when compressing like that. Some colours look like it is just one shade, but it could actually be three more shades of red. If that is ignored, it would remove the shades, adjusting the image beyond pixelation and artefact generation.

I am yet to analyse the colours myself. I'll get back to you on that!

• Sure. We can just revert the images once proven there's a significant difference between the two.
